OPTS Wins CSR Award at Nigerian International Petroleum Summit (NIPS)

On the 7th of June, 2021, the 4th Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) held an awards and gala night at in Abuja. OPTS was awarded the “Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility 2020 Award for developing participatory development processes and support during COVID-19 lockdown”. This was in recognition of the industry wide collaboration intervention initiative to combat the COVID-19 pandemic on Nigeria, under the leadership of NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari. The effort was a collaboration between NNPC and its partners in the upstream sector of the nation’s oil &gas comprising of all member companies of OPTS.

Recall that in 2020, OPTS supported initiatives  which included the delivery of 12 ambulances, construction of a fully equipped molecular diagnostic laboratory and permanent medical facility in Warri, Delta State; Owerri, Imo State and FCT, Abuja, Implementation of a grassroots focused sensitization campaign nationwide to help minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus and partnered with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on the deployment of a web-based app to support contact tracing and effective mobilization of resources nationwide. The support initiatives amounted to a total of N11billion ($30million) and was delivered in phases.

Mike Sangster, OPTS Chairman/MD Total and Osagie Okunbor, Country Chair/MD SPDC accepted the award on behalf of OPTS.
