Richard Kennedy (Rick) is the Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron’s Nigeria/Mid-Africa business unit, a role he assumed in November 2020. He is based in Lagos, Nigeria, and is responsible for Chevron’s upstream business in the country. Prior to this position, he was Director, Deepwater Assets and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) for the Nigeria/Mid-Africa business unit.
Rick started his career 35 years ago, in Chevron Canada as a production engineer. Since then, he has held numerous technical and management upstream positions of increasing responsibility in various locations: Caltex Pacific Indonesia, Chevron North America Exploration and Production, and Chevron Shipping Co., with extensive experience in reservoir management, asset development, and production operations.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University. Having worked in the Organizational Capability group in Houston, Texas, United States of America, he is passionate about people development, safety, and operational discipline. Rick is happily married with children and loves sports – soccer, rugby, and hockey.
