On the 8th of December, 2020, OPTS ExCom led by Richard Laing, Chairman & Managing Director of ExxonMobil affiliate Companies in Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR) Director, Eng. Sarki Auwalu.
In attendance were the following OPTS MDs: Richard Laing – CMD, ExxonMobil, Wale Olafisan – GMD, Amni, Charles Odita – MD, Midwestern, Victor Sodje – MD, Newcross, Layi Fatona – CEO, ND Western, Ignatius Ifelayo – MD, Oriental Energy, Bashir Bello – Director, SPDC and
Victor Bandele – Deputy MD, Total.
Eng. Auwalu expressed excitement at the visit by the industry. He expressed faith in the expertise of the industry which DPR would like to take advantage of to create wealth for the industry and the nation. Richard Laing, Chairman/MD of ExxonMobil on behalf of OPTS appreciated the Director DPR and expressed his belief that working collaboratively could bring the industry to where it should be.
Eng. Auwalu shared DPR’s vision for its Oil and Gas Excellence Centre and updated OPTS on the ongoing improvements/initiatives in DPR, including the introduction of guidance notes. He appreciated the visit and informed the house about the relocation to Abuja of DPR staff which would enable the use of the current DPR Lagos office as the Oil and Gas Excellence Centre.
