Engineer Gwueke AJAIFIA is currently the Executive Director of OPTS since July 2023. A solid professional with a degree in chemical Engineering, Engr. Ajaifia has about 32 years of experience in the oil and gas sector in Field operations, Development Engineering, Project & Construction, Strategy & Long-term Planning, Gas Business, Commercial Negotiation and Asset Management. Having a strong stakeholder engagement credentials, he has worked both in Nigeria, Europe and Asia.

Engr. Ajaifia has served as Directors on several companies’ boards such as Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas limited, NLNG and Bonny Gas Transport Limited, BGT for six years between 2014 and 2020 and played a key role in the processes leading to FID for Train 7. He also served on the board of Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria, GACN for three years. With his wealth of experience in gas matters he oversaw several gas contract negotiations both for domestic and export gas supplies. He also represented in the industry in several gas to power engagement with the authorities during his tenure as Chairman OPTS gas subcommittee. He is currently serving on the boards of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative, NEITI.

Before joining OPTS in July 2023, Engr. Gwueke Ajaifia was Executive General Manger, Asset Operated by others for TotalEnergies EP Nigeria limited, which includes the company’s interests in SPDC JV, SNEPCO deep water and Exxon Mobil USAN deep water fields.
